Wireshark is the most important and widely used network protocol analyzer in the world. This network software allows you to see what is happening on your computer, helping you break down any encrypted messages sent around it by easily analyzing their content. Wireshark’s development thrives due to the voluntary contributions of global network experts, and it is a continuation of the project started by Gerald Combs in 1998.
This article assumes that you have at least a basic knowledge of Linux, know how to use the shell, and most importantly, are hosting your site on your own VPS. The installation is very simple, assuming you are running under the root account; if not, you may need to add sudo to the command to gain root privileges.
